Stop the Train
Let’s set the scene. There’s a railroad track and a racing train going down that track. It can feel like everything you hold dear and gives you purpose is strapped down at the end. Freedom, autonomy, the nuclear family, religion, your business, or anything else. Meanwhile, the train can be anything from big tech, to identity politics, the media, or angry mobs.
Certain aspects of society may actually be on the tracks. People are waking up and are realizing they need to not only stop the train, but there is a need to reverse it. We can only collectively stop the train, with our combined awareness. The problem lies in coordination, when so much of our information channels (internet, media, etc) are corrupted. We need new ways of propagating info to those that are not aware, and we need to build a system from the ground up.
The younger generations seems to be the ones on the verge of connecting these dots the quickest. Teenagers are participating in decentralized finance and permissionless crypto networks. Many are driving a wave back to tradition & religion. And some of the top stars like Kanye West have made it a point to “make religion cool again” with his album last year titled “Follow God.” Where this movement goes, I’m not sure. But the Gen-Z teenagers are realizing they weren’t given a fair shot, and they’re going to take it into their own hands to build up a new system.
We’re seeing this play out in one example, the Gen Z Mafia.
Quote of the Week:
I think it's time we stop, children, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
There's battle lines being drawn
Nobody's right if everybody's wrong
Young people speaking their minds
Getting so much resistance from behind
- Buffalo Springfield, “For What It’s Worth”, 1967
