Self Reliance
As the fall / winter months begin, it’s critical to remain upbeat. The mainsteam media will continue their attempts to push their agenda. They’ll likely trigger hysteria and fear, as they try to usher in the next round of lockdowns.
Being prepared is half the battle. Don’t get too down if we’re locked inside again. View it as an opportunity to spend more time with family, work on those items you’ve been putting off, or pursue a new hobby.
Song of the Day:
In the town where I grew up, the local radio station used to play this song every morning. It became an inside joke over the years - especially since it comes from Monty Python. We’d joke and sing along. But looking back on it… the message holds quite true. Always look on the bright side of life. Life’s too short to wallow in self-pity. Have a growth mindset, and be action oriented, and be positive.
Reading of the Week:
Self Reliance - by Ralph Waldo Emerson (Source)
TL;DR - Main takeaways
follow your individual will instead of conforming to social expectations.
follow one’s own voice rather than an intermediary's, such as the church.
be honest in your relationships with others.
focus on individual rather than societal progress.
Having a purpose in life can help lead you through tough times. Easier said than done - if you’re having a hard time finding a purpose, clearly define your principles and character.
Ralph’s piece challenges the individual to look inside themselves and develop a sense of self reliance, which will help everything else fall into place. We believe the same.
