Fight the Power
It’s now September. Where did the year go? It seems like ages ago we were talking about Kobe Bryant’s passing in a helicopter accident. How many of you remember what is was like pre-covid19, or walking around freely without a mask?
2020 may just seem like chaos. However, out of chaos comes order, it always does. Order is necessary, but in times like this, order can correct too far. Not only are we dealing with racial tensions, we’re dealing with incompetent politicians, a lack of consistency from the medical field and WHO, news outlets with heavy bias, and a decaying economic system propped up by quantitative easing.
In an instance of order correcting too far, three days ago police got a search warrant, entered into a pregnant Australian woman’s house & arrested her. In addition to her charges she was fined $20,000. Her crime? She made a Facebook post regarding organizing an event on Facebook, protesting against the government policy on masks:
But protesting & looting if it fits my agenda is totally fine! Freedom of assembly is only for people who agree with my opinion about lockdowns, curfews, etc. Everyone else can get arrested and be forced to not social distance anyways since they'll be in close contact with police, prisoners etc. Great plan! And seize their property!
Human nature requires routine. But we shouldn’t let governments overstep their bounds.
Video of the Week:
History has countless case studies of governments gone wrong. As one example, when Hitler came to power he was very interested in public health campaigns. Vans went around screening for tuberculosis. Although it’d be asinine to draw parallels (we’re in completely different situations), we need to be careful with some of the initiatives in certain countries, such as location tracking, temperature monitoring, etc. Data can be extremely powerful.
Out of chaos will come order. And right now, it seems like there’s so much chaos, whoever does emerge to lead will be a force to be reckoned with, for better or for worse.
Song of the Week:

Closing Thoughts:
Set 5 goals for the rest of the year and think about what you want to accomplish. Also write down 5 things you’re thankful for and take a moment to be grateful. It will set a positive tone and a steady frame of reference as we round out these last few months.
